DO YOU KNOW FOR CERTAIN THAT YOU WILL GO TO HEAVEN?
Many people respond to this question by saying, "I don't believe anyone can know for certain." But the Apostle John wrote, "These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of GOD, that you may know that you have eternal life,..." (emphasis added). 1 John 5:13
Other people say admission to Heaven depends on our good works. Well, if you were standing before GOD and He asked you, "Why should I let you into Heaven?", what would you say? Would you tell Him about your good works? The Apostle Paul told Titus salvation is experienced, "...not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration (i.e. the new birth, John 3:7), and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior,...". Titus 3:5,6
What, then must one do to be saved?
REALIZE
Realize that you are a sinner by nature and confess that you have sinned against GOD.
"As it is written: 'There is none righteous, no, not one ' ". Romans 3:10
"...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of GOD,...". Romans 3:23
"For the wasges of sin is death, (physical and spiritual) but the gift of GOD is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord". (emphasis added) Romans 6:23
REPENT
Turn from your sin (repent), and believe that GOD in Christ (2 Corintians 5:19) loved you so much that Jesus died in your place for your sin, and was raised from the dead for your salvation.
"Truly, these times of ignorance GOD overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man (Jesus) whom He (GOD) has ordained. He has given assurance of this by raising Him (Jesus) from the dead". Acts 17:30-31
"But GOD demonstrated His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (i.e. as our substitute) Romans 5:8
"For He (GOD) made Him (Jesus) who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of GOD in Him (Jesus)." 2 Corintians 5:21
"But what does it (the Scriptures) say? 'The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that GOD has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.' " Romans 10:8-10
RECEIVE
The gift of salvation is assured to everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord and receives the Savior.
"For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:13
"But as many as received Him (Jesus), to them He gave the right to become children of GOD, to those who believe in His name;...". John 1:12
"He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of GOD does not have life." 1 John 5:12
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of GOD, not of works, lest anyone should boast." Ephesians 2:8,9
